ABOUT ME

My first encounter with writing happened in elementary school. My class was asked to write a short story before recess. I missed three consecutive recesses because I wouldn't finish my story. I was too focused on creating a world on paper. Thus, the journey of writing began.

Since then, a love of reading ensued. I would read anything I could get my hands on books, magazines, recipes, etc. I never gave thought to studying English because I was told that the liberal arts held no lucrative value. Whoever told me that, and whoever still is saying that, is wrong. My experience at Utah Valley University as an English major has proved any naysayers wrong. Yes, I can quote Kant, Derrida, and Baudrillard, but that is not all I'm good for.

My experience with my peers and my professors has opened my mind to new possibilities, to a new world. I'm no longer a closed-minded person. Because of my education, I am to see the world through a new lens.

I graduated with a B.A. in English, emphasis in creative writing, and a certificate in editing. Something also to mention, I graduated during the Covid-19 pandemic. Since then, I have struggled as a writer. I freelanced my abilities, barely scraping by, but gaining valuable experience. Now, here I am almost a year later, and I have a few things to be proud of: I started a freelance business, wrote a novel (it’s still a work in progress), and created a podcast.
